New Comic - Mental Health Day

Photobucket

So I forgot to post a new comic in the last while. I have a few done. I also have two of the Text and Images done and scanned, and I'm just working on the last one. It had to wait for a while since it's being done digitally, and I didn't have my tablet, or a working copy og Photoshop. I've said all this before...

In other news I'm broke! Woot! I also wanted to run this idea past whoever is reading any wants to comment, or leave some input. If I designed a couple t-shirts, would anyone buy them? I was thinking something along the lines of a "Not with Him/Her" design, a'la last weeks comic, but also something like a Panda design perhaps, maybe not a panda, possibly something else. A polar bear is what I would likely settle on. Something cute. Anyway, the bear design would be a bit more expensive then the other design, an arbitrary number, lets say five dollars more as an example, and the extra five dollars would be donated to the WWF. Good idea? Possibly other things as well, y'know, if the shirts work out.

Either way, later!

Also, what's everyones thoughts on my colouring technique? Are you feelin' the coloured pencils, or should I try something else?

Hi! I saw your post over at LJ on the Webcomics group and thought I'd check this out. :)

On T-Shirts: General rule I've seen successful webcomic people give is to not even consider merchandise like shirts until you have about 3,000 readers. Believe me, all you will do is put a lot of work into them and get frustrated when no one even checks them out. And it won't be a reflection of your comic or shirts or audience; it's just that only a small portion actually dish out cash.

I saw one popular webcomic that was trying to get book preorders together. He had an average of 3,000-4,000 readers, and he just barely scraped together 300 preorders (the minimum he needed to print).

I gave up on the merchandising angle myself because of my numbers, although I am going to do books (and have one almost ready). But I'm doing the books mostly because 1.) it's a good learning experience, and 2.) I want my own stuff in print FOR ME. I'll certainly try to sell them, but if no one buys them, I'm okay with that.

On coloring: Looks fine to me! I say stick with it and perfect it as much as you can. Focus on different ways you can shape, and try to challenge yourself so you constantly get better. If you get to the point that you feel you've done all you can, then consider something different, if only to help yourself get better.

I would totally buy a shirt with a cute animal on it, especially if there was a donation to wwf involved :D
